Nadine.. I can also see Arafat eliciting more support from Iraq and Iran, who probably have a large interest in seeing the US have to "deal" with the Palestinians, instead of them. That's the best way to keep the US from focusing its political and military will against them... Continue to exploit the Palestinian issue, generate press in support of the intifada, arm them, and keep the US occupied so they can buy themselves some time to prepare for the eventual "day of reckoning".
