IMO it was a stupid way to frame the issue.
There is "evil" everywhere- we aren't really concerned about "evil" (and when I say we, I mean out government) we are concerned about our own objectives. If we were really concerned about evil we would be in conflicts that are horrible, but devoid of any relationship to our interests (our revenge, or our economy). Since we do not do this, I deduce that by axis of evil- what we really mean is "those countries that we do not like because they have been a thorn in our side, for one reason or another." Seems a silly basis for a moral war- I grant you Bush is trying to whip it up, but people aren't going to want to send their sons and daughters to the other side of the world for an axis of evil. You might get a few people to do it, but not the vast majority. We are, in general, a peace loving and slightly isolationist people- I do not think Bush is going to be able to change that. And thank goodness for that.
