Hi RtS,

Interesting that the back end equipment manufacturers seem to be doing better than the front end.

It appears that the .13 micron processes(die shrinks) and the 300mm wafer all result in more chips per wafer - which requires more backend machines to bond, handle and test??

Darn I'm getting scared - that makes sense and the market agrees. AWESOME.

Bob

RtS, I was unaware of SMH until you brought it up in this post. Upon comparison of the stocks in each group, there is much similarity. After the changes to the SOX at the end of this week, the similarity will be even closer.

I checked on how closely the 2 symbols tracked each other for the past year and it seems to very close as can be seen at:

bigcharts.marketwatch.com

So after the changes are made to the SOX this weekend, the following should be the difference between stocks included in the 2 symbols.

SMH will include all symbols in the SOX with the exception of MOT and LSCC. In other words, SMH will include 15 out of the 17 stocks in the SOX index.

The SOX will include all symbols in SMH with the exception of ADI, VTSS, ATML, AMKR and SNDK. In other words, the SOX will include 15 out of the 20 stocks included in the SMH symbol.

The tracking between the 2 symbols, which has been very close in the past, should now track even closer.

Hi RtS (and all others too) - time for a little Japan Update..

The 2 stocks I've been watching most closely, ANDO Corp (6847.J) and New Japan Radio (6911.J) are further moving up. Unfortunately I dumped ANDO when it hit my stop loss aroudn 240 Yen weeks ago. Still have my NJR Position

Ticker -------------- Start (Jan 02) - Local Low - Current
ANDO (6847) ----------- 320 Yen - 220 Yen - 365 Yen
New Japan Radio (6911)- 410 Yen - 340 Yen - 480 Yen

Further stocks to watch might include OKI Electric (6703), Sanken Electric (6707), Toshiba (6502), Shindengen Electric (6844), Shibaura Mechatronics (6590) and Shimadzu (7701)

Here is a quote of all stocks mentioned. Severe oversold condition, most stocks I cited command a PSR of less than 0.30 ("the sky is falling" valuation)

best wishes
