After Israel took out a terrorist.org leader or two, the Palestinian response was to up the incidents from 5 to 30 per (day?).

Bear in mind, the 5 per day was the December lull, after Arafat's speech. The average during most of the intifada has been closer to 40. The worrisome thing is that the nature of the attacks are changing, which increases the chance that they will 'get lucky' with a missile. When that happens, we will see what a massive response looks like.

Arafat's ultimate success, the goal he's striving for, is either to get the EU to hand him land for no peace (as the French just proposed doing), or drag the unwilling Arab states into war on his behalf.

A land for peace deal on the West Bank and Gaza is no part of this vision.
