I'm sorry for not doing further research on Ms. Roy before daring to disagree with her. I should be forced to eat mosquito infested bananas as punishment. Maybe then I will learn some of her wisdom and worldview.

As far as attacking her goes, I thought I was attacking her point of view, not her. If I get too personal, I'm sorry. The personal attacks, however, appear to be your forte. I was just wondering why all of the problems in this, according to her description, bigoted, corrupt country of hers, are the fault of people like me. Looking at it now, you are right. I must not have any brain to want to ask a question like that. I promise to never offend you by asking questions that disagree with your point of view any more. For my own edification, would you care to point out what exactly it was that I said that gave away my secret (you know, not having a brain in my pretty little head).

As far as Enron goes, I wish I had had the foresight to short their stock. At the minimum they are guilty of gross incompetance. At the worst, they are fraudulant bastards, responsible for erasing millions of dollars of shareholder and employee money while trying to cover their own asses. Did you really need me to tell you that?

As far as Enron's dealings in India go, I'm curious why Ms. Roy never bothered to investigate the people who agreed to sell out their own country. What exactly are people in India doing to prevent that kind of corruption from destroying their country? There is no shortage of the kind of deals that she is describing anywhere in the world. This is not to excuse what the Enron folks did here, but if there was no Enron, then those corruptible Indian officials would be looking for someone else to bribe them. I'm sure there are lots of crooked Indian companies willing to rape their fellow countrymen (and women). Is it possible that there is a political system involved that needs to be changed? Is it possible that that system has its base in Delhi, not Washington?

Ms. Roy is an excellent writer, and probably more of an expert on international politics then I am. But I am smart enough to recognize someone eager to point fingers at anyone else. And you both fall into that category.

Regards,
Chris
