Yep, we had the biggie. Rang church bells 800 miles away. Made the mightiest river run backward for two days. We don't have little quakes, we do then right.

but wasn't the 1964 Alaska event bigger than the New Madrid quakes? Nine-something Richter if memory serves.

relatives we have around Valdivia (Chile) speak with awe about the 1960 subduction ruction they had there. Top-rate cropland was dropped 40 feet and became worthless salt swamp. Worst thing was, the brewery burned to the ground, or rather on the ground after being inertially disassembled. Or something!!!
