apparently they have recently gone through a retrenchment of sorts and are coming out the other side ... perhaps growing same store sales after some closures. I'm going to have a closer look at that one ...

>>ODP operates a chain of retail office products stores, provides delivery of its products in the U.S. and Canada to store and catalog customers, and is a full-service contract stationer serving businesses throughout the U.S. For the fiscal year ended 12/29/01, revenues fell 4% to $11.15 billion. Net income totalled $201 million, up from $49.3 million. Results reflect a decrease in comparable store sales, offset by a significant decrease in facility closure costs.<<

Safeway ahsn't been going anywhere either really.

If there's a recession pending, it's one helluva headfake we are getting. Why would office Depot be hitting news highs. That's NOT what happens in a recession. Are they selling new big ticket items like desks and crap. Can't all be toner and paper.

Remember Buffett buying up building materials companies recently?
