The tenor of your questions are clearly meant to be an attack against me personally and against Jesus Christ Himself.

Simply because you have chosen to find it difficult in responding to the "tenor" of the direct quotes from the "Gospels" from Jesus Christ I posted to you , I am therefore attacking you and he ?

They are called the Gospels Greggy-poo , for they are God's truth yes? But now you admit that they might be flawed after all for they are old . Could it also be that Jesus was not always the supreme master of his own emotions and too often set himself up as judge and jury ?

We know that he hated Jezebel , a priestess/princess he had never met with such a passion that he would not only destroy her , but the innocents of her loins :

Revelations 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

Jesus was not beneath ordering the deaths of his enemies as he tells his disciples here in Luke to bring and kill those that offend him:

Luke 19:27 But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.

Son of God or just another mad , angry , out-of-control preacher ? Or maybe a mythical charactor embodying the prejudices and tribal hatreds of the time , indignity and self righteousnesses of a People of the Book in ever-warring Judaea ...and their belief in their own superiority , unbelievable prophesies and superstitions ?

As for the tenor of Jesus nearing the end of his short-lived ministry let's examine this tenor of doom and damnation so dismaying is found everywhere everywhere in his ranting speaches that caused so much misery thru the ages:

"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of Hell."

"Whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven him neither in this world nor in the world to come." "Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire."

"The Son of Man shall send forth his His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth";

34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

"And these shall go away into everlasting fire."
Then He says again,
"If thy hand offend thee, cut it off; it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into Hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched, where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched."

And he goes on and on about this gnashing of teeth and punishments of Hell to the point where you must draw the conclusion there is in large part a doctrine of cruelty being foisted here and not a doctrine of love . Just look at the generations of wars and misery that followed in it's wake ?

But the host of avenging angels never came from out of the thunderclouds destroying all in it's wake did they Greg ?
Nor did the fulfillment of the prophesy of the second coming
he fortold ...

It is your right to believe in this Son of God if you choose but upon close examination it is indeed a great leap of faith ,imo. As for attacking Jesus Christ Greg,
I think that would be very unwise given the tenor of the man and his quickness to condemn those that oppose him to everlasting fires of Hell or just plain death <G>

You labeled your self as intolerant and I won't disagree with you, but I would also add bigot. If you had a serious question I would certainly answer it, but I feel zero obligation to justify your hate with a detailed response.

My statement was "I am intolerant of ignorance" read it again Greggy-poo :
Message 17075378

" It is not hate towards your beliefs in any way that motivates me to try and uncover something besides weak evasions from you . I am intolerant of ignorance , I will admit . I see you responding to nothing whatsoever I posted to you , when any other Christian would have been happy
to , and let his love for Jesus manifest and speak it simply and sincerely.

As for hatred , it was the hatred and doctrine of cruelty coming from the mouth of Jesus thru his chroniclers in the Gospels I was discussing . The quotes were provided to you.

I will however point out that if the gospels are so untrustworthy because they are old, and you claim that your religion is so much older, then that just makes your religion that much less trustworthy. As we already saw you have no documentary evidence for the sayings of Buddha, in fact they are clearly mythical.

I am not sure that the Gospels being old has anything to do with the wisdom they may or may not contain . Any and every writing may be examined for it's substance and worth by any who choose to see and read and examine them closely.

That there is no documentary evidence for the sayings of Buddha and that he and the many sayings attributed to him
are only myths....I am not sure where you got this from or established this fact . It is another one of your terribly accurate statements , like the millions of Christians you think are in China today ...when in doubt make up little stories Gregg?

We do know that one of the largest Empires in the world and most benign periods in history was around 250BC in India when Asoka united most all of India from Afghanistan to Sri Lanka under the gentle philosophy and teachings of Buddha .
This after Alexander the Macedonian entered India and was stopped . You have heard of Alexander , yes?
bartleby.com

So excuse me please ? Only just a myth ? Buddhism swept on to to capture the imaginations then of China , Burma , Sri Lanka and Japan , where it still is very much alive today.

And yes Gregg , the turning the other cheek was not an original quote from Jesus , it was already a very old saying by the time of Christ , as were so many of the others that were born from other enlightened minds in other places long before .

You world view and knowledge of history is astoundingly small.

Bigot:

"Bigots may have more in common with God than one might think. Legend has it that Rollo, the first duke of Normandy, refused to kiss the foot of the French king Charles III, uttering the phrase bi got, his borrowing of the assumed Old English equivalent of our expression by God. Although this story is almost surely apocryphal, it is true that bigot was used by the French as a term of abuse for the Normans, but not in a religious sense. Later, however, the word, or very possibly a homonym, was used abusively in French for the Beguines, members of a Roman Catholic lay sisterhood. From the 15th century on Old French bigot meant β€œan excessively devoted or hypocritical person.” Bigot is first recorded in English in 1598 with the sense β€œa superstitious hypocrite.”

Just a little Word~History for you , desperately you are in need of .
