Obituary: America Honors a Hero, John Gardner, COMMON CAUSE This past weekend, John Gardner, a founder of Common Cause passed away in Stanford, CA. He is one of my heros. A man who saw clearly that the main battlelines in American politics aren't drawn between the Left and the Right, but between the interests of the citizen versus the grasping of the special interests. He was firmly in the camp that says America ought to run for the benefit of all of us. Not for some small cadre of rich and powerful elites at the expense of the rest of us.
