The UN cannot dictate national policy to sovereign governments That's pretty funny. I believe Jefferson Davies once said something very similar. And there is a guy on trial in the Hague right this very moment who is telling the world exactly what you just said. Of course the irony is that when it suits us we use the UN as cover for our own military actions abroad. Fact is, might makes right. Until it doesn't. Just the way the world works.
