I agree with you, and think for the most part you where agreeing with me.

Howver I would like to add that for some who does not live in countries where these ideologies are in power it might be less obvious that the ideologies are morally bankrupt and practically dangerous. In some places and times in the US leftist even communist ideology was just accepted as being correct and good. I think the fact that many people where deluded in to supporting it is awful and I might lose a portion of respect for anyone who supports communism but I don't think that they can not be people of good will. (perhaps they are instead not people with good sense). In Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia, you would have to be an idiot, or insane not to eventually see the horribleness of the ideologies that where behind the state's repression, but as an undergrad as at a leftist university in the 70s it might not be so clear.
