An unscientific observation: An explosive turn often turns out to be only a short term top/bottom. Rounded tops and bottoms set more sturdy bases.

If that observation has any validity then maybe we should note that the Sep bottom was explosive but the Dec/Jan top was very rounded. What do you think?

Options, the September explosion was not much bigger than the April one (but, admittedly with much better sentiment indicators than theMarch/April lows). Yet, since then we have dissipated a lot of the technical energy of the September lows. I still think those will hold, at least over the next few months, but here at 1800, we could be heading either way. The topping action, as Steve mentioned, was extremely "toppy" (lack of leadership, contraction of new highs etc....)
