I have no argument here. I can only surmise Ed was referring to performance only, as opposed to bang-for-the-buck; but, in that context...

-> PC2100 has significantly lower latency than 1GHz DRDRAM.

Low latency benefits the Athlon more than the P4. With the larger cache and optimally ordered compiles in favored benches, the P4 can manage to shine with RDRAM (Ref: THG's recent article). So for real-world, unoptimized app's, advantage to DDR - I agree. Good point.
