Ray,

If our taxes were simple, low, and flat, then the "scheming
corporations" would have absolutely nothing to "scheme" about!

And, the government would collect plenty of money...

Re: "paying equitably"
You have avoided the point that I raised earlier.
These companies are still paying the full U.S. tax on
their U.S.-based operations. What inherent claim does
the U.S. government have on profits that are derived
solely from non-U.S.-based operations?

Corporations shouldn't have to pay any tax at all. Their shareholders and employees do already, and a tax on the corporation is double taxation. By your definition, a "scheming" corporation is one that avails itself of its rights. I'm sure you think Ken Lay ought to serve double prison time for availing himself of his Constitutional rights, too.

Corporations are merely a conglomeration of people, in the form of shareholders and employees. The longstanding and nonsensical leftist tradition of treating corporations as a separate, evil whipping boy needs to be brought to an end.

We'll simply have to agree to disagree.

No. We'll simply have to beat your socialist asses in every election. We simply have to. Because there's no where on Earth to escape to if you win.

Your first sentence is absolutely correct. Why so quick, then, to dive off the Marxian cliff? "Corporate interests"? You and I are them, and they are us. The answer SCREAMS at all of us, even the class-warfare jackasses who pretend to support "the people": STOP TAXING CAPITAL FORMATION!! That kind of taxation sucks the blood of every honest worker and their family. It weakens us, leading to insane terrorist wars against us. It supports the election of charlatan after charlatan who promises to "make the big guys pay", and then finance Ponzi schemes for an electorate kept ignorant by the propaganda of those same charlatans.

Workers of the world, rise up and break your chains! ABSLUTELY!! Vote out every SOB who's ever tried to defraud your family by using the words "Social Security Trust Fund". Get rid of the thieves who spend their time trying to tax your job and childrens' future away.

And when you feel exhausted, and want to just sit back and listen to the poison spewed out by Carville/Schrum/Greenberg and their ilk, remember the immortal words of Bismarck:

"The best feature of a democracy is that the people get exactly the government they deserve."...
