How about not allowing any TV ads at all?

After all, we don't want to discriminate against "ugly" candidates ;-)

In fact, no pictures of candidates should be allowed!

The only thing that should be allowed are *written* position
statements from each candidate.

That would imply that potential voters would actually
have to *read* these and *understand* them in order
to make a decision.

Many state and local legislatures by way of consumer protection statutes (and court decisions, through adverse rulings) require businesses to write their consumer contracts in non-legal "plain English" or face consequences.

If the government requires businesses to speak in plain English, shouldn't it be held to the same standard?

As to campaign contributions, I think any U.S. citizen, whether individual, corporate, or union (but no involuntary contributions) should be able to give unlimited sums, with the requirement that everything be disclosed. Then the donee's opponents can make whatever political hay they can out of the source and flow of money, but it doesn't chill the First Amendment. Corporations and unions have particularized interests that should be allowed to be heard, too.

Who are corporations, PAC's, unions, etc. composed of if not organized groups of INDIVIDUALS? Find me one American citizen (or illegal alien resident) who isn't a part of a minimum of three "special interest" groups, and I'll be willing to start a new debate.

The problem is that the groups of individuals who find themselves and their interests losing want to destroy the playing field, and are too ignorant to realize that the playing field is the nation itself.

"Anti-globalization" is like anti-tide, or anti-weather...
