John Shannon - My response to you at the CISCO Thread further analyzes the CISCO data you presented there and shows why in IMHO shareholders DID NOT pay $12 billion for stock option exercises, "bottom line".

The two accounting presentations for stock options presented in today's financial statements DO NOT IMHO have an "equivalent economic basis from the company's perspective" as I have previously outlined in my posts. But for those who want to believe options are an expense of the granting company, there are disclosed pro forma impacts of granted stock options valued using the Black Scholes Model. So today's financial statements provide enough information to satisfy your individual shareholder perspective.
