Discussions are for those who would discuss what they would discuss. These threads are not contests, nor are they tyrannies, or are they governed by what some may like or dislike. They are governed by their life. If you are jealous of others life, don't be a dog in the manger. Scintillate and we will applaud. Titillate and we will reply coyly. Irritate and we will throw road apples. What is it you wish to do? Your heave, pancho.

I have found that there are those who only wish to agree. Others wish to propose ideas that may be independent. Group action or opinion, not matter how acclaimed, is not universally deemed the font of wisdom. So it is easy to be the odd man out, and not be wrong. But in this case it behooves you to be Jeffersonian. Speak softly and pontificate not, lest your opponents pick up your slime and heave it it back in your face. Of course you could be having fun with that. Have fun with the metaphor. You may not be just an average baiter, but a master baiter. Only we don't get the joke.

I used to run into this effect all the time on SI. I would go on mining promotion threads and wonder aloud about the possible economics of the implied deposit/promotion/scam in the most judicious and technical way. "I am not sure about 3 foot wide arsenide veins of Cobalt at 1%. They just do not seem to have an analog in current producers" Oh the screaming and yelling of "Off Topic -- thread disruptive, ad hominem, abusive" It never failed. The more erudite and polite I questioned, the madder they got. I got kicked off SI no less than 6 times for being a wet blanket when scum were trying to sell their phony paper to suckers. SI was a promoter's dream. Many got hosed. I knew people that lost their entire life savings to SI threads. It all came sliding to the end of the bull market.

There is not much left. But don't sell your ties, they always come back in style.

Win friends and influence people.

(sigh)
