The CSM5200 device provides data throughput of up to 384 kilobits per second (kbps) per user and up to 2 Megabits per second (Mbps) in aggregate. Higher aggregate data rates can be achieved by cascading multiple CSM5200 devices in any given cell. This provides a dramatic improvement over the 9.6 kbps data rate offered by current GSM implementations as well as the data rates achieved through evolutionary standards, such HSCSD, GPRS, and EDGE.
