128-bit would be much easier to implement than 256-bit and should provide at least 3/4 of the performance improvement that 256-bit would provide.

True, Intel has 256 bit transfers between caches, but they are only at half the clock rate. So AMD's 128 bit transfer, if done at full speed would be at least as good.

Still, I'd hate for cache speed to be the equivalent of the Intel double pumped ALU -- the limiting factor in TBred's speed.
