ST, thanks for the recognition. Most of the people who visit here are smart. Sometimes smart people abandon basic rules and principles because they are usually successful at most things they do. Sometimes when we enjoy a high level of success, we tend to get cute with our outlook. We tend to anticipate things more often.

It made sense to anticipate the builders going down, and they still may, but in an attempt to be cute and be in front of the crowd, we forget that we're not supposed to fight the trend. The trend in the homeboys, as I've been mentioning for weeks now, has been up.

Now some people have made a profit shorting the homeboys, but I'm willing to bet it wasn't easy money.

I'm of the opinion that we should get the trend on our side and go with the flow.

Later today I'll give my reasons why I think KKD "may" be a good trade here. I don't want to be distracted as the market is now opening. I have to go see how JNPR is doing.

In re the Homeboys:

It's interesting to see that the homebuilders, rather than skying off the January housing starts numbers, are falling (TOL down 1% as I type).

What do you call it when stocks stall out on great news, or even fall? A top? Yes, I think that's the term.

Good luck to all and this is not any sort of recommendation.

Point is, we could be poised, as we were at this time of year in 1998, for a bit of a price war. I wouldn't discount the possibilities...

Comments and corrections welcomed!
