"What's the point of being smart ?"

Jon, i think you're smart enough to know that's not the question to ask. the bankruptcy courts are littered with the shells of Wall St. eggheads. Loweinstein summed it up perfectly when he titled his book on LTCM When Genius Failed.

Jon: I have no intention of worrying about today's volatility. I am only focused on the next 4 EPS conference calls, awaiting news of upside surprises, better forward guidance, and stock splits.

The pipeline for 3G exists in every way, shape, and form that Qualcomm has promised. Just go to the Lucent website and take a look at their products - it's all about ALL IP 3G CDMA12000 and WCDMA. Nortel is doing a better job documenting their infrastructure too.

QCOM has a unique position with all of the Radio One ZIF chipsets (including MSM, RF, and CSM components) to supply handset companies and infrastructure companies. QCOM was lucky to sell the handset ASICS for CDMAONE handsets in the early days. They sold very few infrastructure ASICs.

Believe me, no one in the world has any idea what is about to hit the market for 3G CDMA. The public has zero visibility on how advanced the new technology will be. PCS and VZ have done almost nothing to support their 3G1X platforms.
