The French need to change the colors of its flag to white. This would save them a lot of time in the future.

Painfully apt. The French have a lot to live down. I will say that Vichy resisted handing over French Jews initially, although not refugees. But they did not resist very hard. The terrible thing is that Fascist Italy had a better track record in resisting than Vichy. (Mussolini's mistress, and several of his friends, were Jewish, and the Italians were less anti- semitic than the French).....
