Anything that goes bang, St. Barbara has a hand in. The legend of St. Barbara is from Joachmistal, a silver mining town in Czechoslovakia. The analog is something might come down on your head, I guess. She is the prophylaxis for that sort of accident.

She was supposed to have been persecuted and executed by her father for her Catholic faith. I have kicked the odd dog for hanging around a cthlc. church or other den of iniquity, but I view the father's actions as a tad excessive. He could have just send her to Wittenberg instead.
