They may have started out as a guess, but they have become a means to deliberately deceive shareholders IMO.

A company can control its revenues as well as its costs. If it has good products, and its marketing and forecasting people can read and react to the market, then products will sell. I run a business. It makes more profit than most NDX companies<g>.

I disagree. Used properly, pro forma results are the only way to make valid comparisons. The problem is that they also allow abuses. But the GAAP numbers are also available for those who want them.
