There have been a couple of developments since the SSC was planned: From Cern: Dec.14.2001 "SORRY FOLKS,NO HIGGS OR GOD PARTICLE FOUND" The most elusive and sought for God Particle ,so called in the name of HIGGS was not found.The CERN reported their search even beyond 80Gev upto 130 Gev found no evidence of existence of Higgs particle. So start looking around some new mechanism for the Formation of Mater without Higgs in its theory. superstringtheory.com and from astronomy(Nasa): it offers the first tantalizing observational evidence that gravity began slowing down the expansion of the universe after the Big Bang, and only later did the repulsive force of dark energy win out over gravity's grip. science.nasa.gov Together these indicate that the SSC was designed to examine a flawed model of the universe and it's beginnings. It's likely that if the project were restarted it would have different goals and construction. TP
