Well, I wouldn't be too sure about that. Doubling the capacity of the air interface, and possible improvements in backhaul capacity, (per 1X phone being employeed) will not have that profound effect on CCPU. Lots of other things. Like Customer Care Costs have a direct impact on CCPU. If you close Call Centers and lay off 3000 workers and save 60 million annually, and only have 10 million subs (for instance). Then your CCPU could drop by $3 per sub. Of course PCS's wait times were horrific to begin with. Now they want to close call centers? Deploying 1X is really not going to improve CCPU. Interconnect charges and LD charges do not really drop by deploying 1X. Everyone is predicting "Wireless Armageddon". Everyone has their Wireless 5000 Night and Weekend ICBM's pointed at each other! In the end, they will realize that it is a "Negative Sum Gain". Before you know it! One of the majors will announce. "No more Free Long Distance", the rest of the Majors will follow suit right behind them. The aggresive pricing tactics will subside! After all, No need to try and protect their share price anymore. So they will just hunker down and cut Operational Costs. Start trimming down on the "perks" they provide customers! After all, would you rather see 400,000 new "credit risk" low ARPU customers being added to the roles. Or a $6 CCPU decrease by not providing Free Long Distance? In the process, Operational Margins will increase! There will be some consolidation here and there! A Bankruptcy here or there (nothing major). PCSTEL
