A) I think the headline "Company A increases revenues 50%" would be misleading, but that's a claim they could make under that scenario. Pro forma numbers could be less misleading.

B) I don't think that's the GAAP treatment, which would focus on goodwill (and there might not be any) rather than the cash "price," so even you seem to be suggesting something in the nature of pro formas.

JMHO, and I'm no accountant.
