"Look at the sales bills for slaves in the 1840s. Should we be judged today by those standards?" Accountability is long gone and the blacks alive today would not even exist if the trade did not happen. While it was wrong it is nothing that anyone today can be held accountable for. Most of the black slaves were bought from black African merchants, so those merchants would also be accountable to the blacks living today. "Heck, there are things in our society today that I have a hard time defending. Starting with our campaign contribution laws." <g> Buying votes is a time honored tradition of both U.S. and Canadian cultures.
