I will try and find some real documentation for the European operators....but everything I have seen indicates that they are much lower than Sprint.

Some hard numbers...

telefonica.com

Telefonica reported 6,080 million minutes of airtime use during the first quarter of '01. They started the period with 13.669 million subscribers.

This works out to 148 MOU per month.

The comparable figure for PCS was probably around 450 MOU.

For some reason, I have never seen this huge disrepancy commented on by the press.

Sprint is having a harder time accessing the short-term commercial-paper market, as investors become nervous about the balance sheets of all sorts of large companies.
