Fyo, I found some October references to Prescott on the Intel thread, which basically say:
1. It's the 0.09u successor to Northwood
2. It will be the first desktop CPU to implement hyperthreading
3. It's scheduled for mid 2003. A December XBit Labs article had it at the beginning of 2003, obviously impossible for 0.09 micron. A November XBit labs article claiming to be info directly from Intel said it was a mid-2003 chip and that it was delayed so that it's chipset could support DDRII+ memory modules.
4. There is a follow-on CPU called Tejas.

My own opinion is that Intel will continue working on the original 32-bit-only version of Prescott. They will also work on adding 64 bit extensions to Prescott and include 64 bit extensions in Tejas. If they can't get the Prescott 64 bit version ready by mid 2003, they will wait to implement 64 bit extensions until Tejas. IMO, that is the more likely outcome.
