The Washington Post recently tackled the *average apartment rent* question for various cities, and the average for DC was $1,100 per month....but have to admit I didn't pay attention to whether this was for a one BR or two BR....nevertheless, the LA deal sounds like a steal any way you look at it....unless you dig down deep into your son's personal financial situation, which can change things.
