I have posted the sources many times before from the Quran, on this and the Islam, The Message threads. Here is an example from the Quran you are looking for.... [at-Taubah 9:4] Excepting those of the idolaters with whom ye (Muslims) have a treaty, and who have since abated nothing of your right nor have supported anyone against you. (As for these), fulfil their treaty to them till their term. Lo! Allah loveth those who keep their duty (unto Him). [at-Taubah 9:5] Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. We support Israel, so they have the right to invoke 9:5, even in America. Look at 9:4, specifically "...nor have supported anyone against you". They think they can attack us solely on the basis of our support ot someone against them.... You must realize that the impression you have that the violent Islamic scripture only applies to non-Muslims that seek to harm Muslims is a canned excuse we hear. Upon further examination we realize that is not true. Here is more examples of offensive war to spread Islam to disprove the premise violence due to self defense:atheism.about.com Please realize Muhammad is the lead example of Islam, as evidenced by this pillar of Islam, one of the 5 fundamental tenants of Islam. This is the first pillar of Islam. "There is none worthy of worship except God and Muhammad is the messenger of God." If Muhammad had been involved in offensive violence, and he is the true messenger of God, did he also interpret the scriptures wrong when he acted offensively? Or do the scriptures actually teach offensive violence is OK, as evidenced by Muhammads example? Also remember, Muhammads supposed revelations from the angel Gabriel is the basis of the Quran. So I am sure he knew exactly what they said, and their meaning, and acted accordingly. Let me know if you would like any more sources. I have many more! God Bless, IGIT
