Buck,

AMD has signed a license with Rambus, but has never used the technology. I don't believe it is on the roadmap.

Speaking of that, we see all these CPU roadmaps from AMD, and in the past, there was a roadmap for chipsets, but as of today, AMD's chipset roadmap is a complete mystery.

"Does AMD (or VIA) have rights or permission to develop infrastructure which supports the use of RAMBUS serial memory technology?"

AMD does, dunno about VIA. They took out a license, and even had a chipset developed, early on. The original 760MP chipset was Rambus and apparently was to the point of actually running...

But then they met up with DDR, and love blossomed, leaving poor Rambus at the altar...

Sad, really.
