To: Frederick Smart From: J. Dean Fagerstrom Thanks for putting these dates and facts in their correct order. The traditional Swedenborgian theologians never seem to get it right date-wise. In The True Christian Religion, paragraph 791 -- Swedenborg states that the "calling together" of all those emissaries of the new light occurred on the 18th of June 1770, because the clear inference is, as it further says" . . . and the NEXT DAY (the 19th of June) He sent them forth into the whole spiritual world to preach the gospel that the Lord God Jesus Christ reigns . . ." In Swedenborgian circles the 19th of June is like a high holy day, which it probably should be -- except that the calling together occurred on one day and "the sending forth" on the next. It isn't critical but it is rather interesting to note how fixated ideas become conditioned reflexes, assumptions and all. The point is that a great new light and liberation took place in the spiritual world, preparing the advent of the Lord's Coming even as we speak so that minds can be downloaded and uploaded with a new power and glory in the heart that desires to love and the mind that wants the truth. Your scholarship in the Writings is fine indeed. I only wish those historical artifacts at the Swedenborgian Foundation would re-read what the Lord's Divine Spirit caused brother Emanuel to write. By the way -- on 19 September 1954 neither Emanuel nor I needed to compare wallet photographs to know who we were respectively speaking with ! PEACE !!!
