wbmw, still that elusive speed increase will only come with apps that are ported to the new ISA. I can see some that some all-new apps may be developed for IA-64 but one of the things that no one on this thread understands is that no one wants to touch legacy software that works ok. The expense of reworking the software is far greater than the possible hardware cost savings.
