"How about Sledgehammer? " I believe that AMD has already stated that SMT isn't in the cards for the Hammers, but it might be in some follow on processor. The Hammers are closer to what Compaq is doing with the EV7, albeit with more changes to the core. But the Hammers will have enough to deal with getting SMP support with HT, the integrated memory controller and the tweaks to the core. Then the next iteration can tackle things like SMT, more execution units and a longer pipeline...
