Hi Harry. You guys were kind enough to give me some feedback on a question I had about reverse head and shoulders in an up trending stock. First I wanted to share what I found in further reading on the subject and then I have some new questions.
On my next basketball trip after our discourse I found the following on pages 217 & 218 in Edwards and Magee's Technical and Analysis of Stock Trends:But occasionally, prices will go through a series of fluctuations which construct a sort of inverted Head-and-Shoulders picture which in turn leads to continuation of the previous trend.
There is no danger of confusing such Continuation or Consolidation Formations with regular Head-and-Shoulders Reversals because, as we have said, they are inverted or abnormal with respect to the direction of the price trend prior to their appearance. In other words, one of these patterns which develops in a rising market will take the form of a Head-and-Shoulders Bottom. Those that appear in declines, assume the appearance of a Head-and-Shoulder Top.....
The volume pattern in Consolidations of this type does not follow the rule for Reversal Head-and-Shoulders....

Now for my questions which are in regards to Panera Bread Co's chart (PNRA). On Feb 6 PNRA reversed dramatically dropping $4.81. The following day it gapped down at the opening and dove to about$ 54.55 taking out my stop loss before closing down $2.75 for the day. I wondered at the time if the gap in and of itself was significant. I couldn't find anything in my book that describes this kind of gap. Subsequently it looks like the chart formed an upsloping pennant or flag. Do you guys see it that way? If so, does the "flagpole" start at the all time high the day before the $4.81 drop or on the day of the $4.81 drop or on the gap down day? If it starts at the high, would the measuring implications be that the stock could drop almost to $45? Today it gapped down again at the opening. Is this gap of any particular significance?

Still so much to learn, but I've already reaped some benefits from what I've learned thus far. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
Bob
