yes, i know all about the gangster yakuza forcing functions and influence in japan. where is douglas macarthur when we need him again. i was watching a biography of macarthur a few quarters ago, and i was surprised that he had a bunch of americans on his staff write the japanese constitution. the program went on to recount the story, and the japanese have not changed even one word of the document to this day. so it is perfectly clear to me how the japanese can live this way for so long. however i am reminded that even though the deflation is bad in japan, most japanese are still very well off and are not suffering too much. what japan needs to get of a dime is a big bout of unemployment. that will get things moving there in a hurry.
