Applied Materials Executives Received No Bonuses In FY01

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones) Applied Materials (NasdaqNM: AMAT - news) Inc. (AMAT) executives didn't receive bonuses for the year ended Oct. 28, 2001 , because of the company's failure to achieve certain financial targets, the company's cost-savings programs and general business conditions.

Chairman and Chief Executive James Morgan recommended that he not receive a bonus for fiscal 2001 in light of business conditions, according to proxy materials filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Morgan and President Dan Maydan both received $3 million bonuses in fiscal 2000. Executive Vice Presidents Joseph Bronson, Sasson Somekh, and David Wang each received a bonus of $2.4 million in fiscal 2000, according to the filing.

CEO Morgan was paid a salary of $809,558 in fiscal 2001, slightly lower than the $835,796 salary he was paid in fiscal 2000.

Morgan was also granted 200,000 stock options, with an exercise price per share of $40.13 and an expiration date of April 3, 2008 . The options are valued at $7.6 million, assuming a 10% annual stock price increase, according to the filing.

Morgan also received 200,000 stock options, with an exercise price of $32.55 a share and an expiration date of Oct. 19, 2008 . Assuming a 10% annual stock price increase, these options are valued at $6.2 million, according to the filing.
