Yet Alcatel has no license, none, nada, zilch to permit the "growth" re: UMTS.

Whenever the "launch" comes, it is full stop.

Unless Qualcomm permits Alcatel free rein - not likely.

This is just another example of European lack of realism.

And that goes for Siemens as well.

But then, Nokia went down that road, until its capitulation to accept the simple point that without a Qualcomm license, there is no opportunity for commercial operations in UMTS.

Perhaps both Alcatel and Siemens don't actually expect UMTS to be in commercial operation anytime soon, so are waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and ...
