Dear Raymond: I hardly think we STALLED D-Day. My recollection was that Churchhill was pushing it strongly also up the boot in Italy. But, the problem was Landing Craft. Just didnt have enough to get across the Channel. The reason we probably should be credited with winning WWII in Europe is because of the tremendous bombings only possible because of USA which reduced Germany's ability to manufacture arms and supplies. jdn

First, the war would likely not have occurred without the Hitler- Stalin Pact. Second, the Soviet Army performed dismally, at first, mainly because Stalin had purged all of its best officers. Third, Britain and the Soviet Union would likely have gone under without Lend- Lease. Fourth, our contribution to the war is not measured in how many of our people died, but, as Patton said, "making the other poor bastard die for his country". The fact is, we were the backbone of the Allied forces on the Western front from North Africa on, and fought the Pacific War almost alone. Fifth, the main thing that defeated the Germans on the Eastern front was the winter, and the failure to provide adequate clothing for it, and the Soviet willingness to burn down its own resources as the Army retreated, to deny the Germans foraging. It wasn't until Stalingrad that the Soviet Army did a decent job as a fighting force. Sixth, not only did we provide the largest number of men for the decisive battles of the Western Front, such as the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge, but we provided the overwhelming logistical support for the Allies. Without Rosie the Riveter churning out planes and tanks, all would have been lost. So, in sum, yes, if it weren't for us, the war would almost certainly been lost, and Nazi Germany would have won........

dear ray the pure stupidity of your beliefs amazes me again. Every time I read posts that express any analysis it is so clear to me what fud stupid folks are.

There are some who view the world and not understanding much they fear it and fear the people doing whatever they don't understand. I know how measure and test and thus I know who I can trust and the prudent level of trust to give and I also know how to determine those who are trapped in a world of FUD.

I call the FUD people stupid, It's their stupidity of life that traps them in FUD. It is very simple and there is
little else to say.

You talk like most all the undergraduate pseudo-intellects I've seen in my day... you talk about what would have been, could have been, should have been... whatever... there is only one reality, and that's the one that is..... go home and do your homework and come back when you have the facts sorted out..... I don't want to be the one to break the news to you, but the domino theory doesn't really mean the pizza is free if the delivery guy takes more than 30 minutes to deliver the pie.....

Are you from Utah? You talk like it.....
