The real problem is that Bush et.al. helped Enron as much as they could until the money ran out, then they dumped them.

Bankruptcies and Fuel Shortages

record number of U.S. consumers and businessmen - 1.49 million, up 19% from 2000 - filed for bankruptcy in 2001 according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. Hmm, I'm confused. Tom Daschle and his party didn't think an economic stimulus package with real tax cuts and incentives was worth doing. Tom Daschle and his party blocked it for months. Thanks to them, we can expect many, many more business people and businesses to fail.

The humane, compassionate policy would have been to give the economy some relief from government taxation, spending and regulation. Yet these so-called liberals tax and spend and regulate regardless of the state of the economy. Nothing stops them: not facts, events or experience.

Meanwhile, Congress has fallen all over itself to hold hearings about Enron. Enron went bankrupt. People lost their jobs, lost their retirement benefits

Yet the politicians have sat back while a million-and-a-half bankruptcies were declared! The best Tom Daschle could offer was a few more bucks in extended unemployment benefits. Thanks for the crumbs, Tom! He and his ilk are so committed to big government - and to killing the economy so they can run on it in November - that they refuse to do anything of substance to relieve the burden on these people and these businesses.

I guess bankruptcies are only worthy of attention if you can somehow try to tie the company to a political enemy.
