Dan, the Pentium 4 won the majority of benchmarks, and in many cases by a long shot. It's as simple as that. Why compare a 2GHz Pentium 4 if Intel already has a 2.2GHz Pentium 4? AMD is far behind with .18u, and falling further behind with their delays. Hopefully, they get their act together soon, or they will lose even more market share to Intel.

Dan, <Why not let AMD pick a few of the benchmarks?>

Because they already do when it comes to "QuantiSpeed."

Dan-O, >AMD has major new advances scheduled all year long - .13 Athlon, followed by .13/SOI Athlon followed by 64-bit Hammer.

I'd bet that therein lies the problem now and going forward with AMD: too much on their plate. I'll just throw out, and WTFDIK, that I think Intel has 3 major things to worry about over the next year or so: getting McKinley out with decent acceptance, getting to 0.09 micron next year and getting a Prescott or other P4 follow-on ready next year. 0.13 ramp and P4 progress per roadmap are looking relatively in the bag. I know that's pretty willy nilly and easy for me to say, and a lot of work ahead for Intel's engineers, etc., but looking good on those.

AMD has 0.13 bulk, Thoroughbred, 0.13 SOI, Hammer and 0.09 SOI as major worries. That's a load and a half! With Intel's far greater resources, and having less on the plate, I wonder who has a better chance of continuing to make their schedules? Not quite a DUH!, but close, IMO.

2000 vs. a 2000 would probably have...AMD will be launching its own .13 chips very soon....AMD has 2 new processes coming out this year ...and a major new generation (Hammer) that will update and replace the current...also this year....

Blow Boy - Re: "AMD's chips cost AMD much less to produce, so AMD is able to sell its chips for less."

Now that's a lie !!

Otherwise, MAD wouldn't be losing money !!

MAD IS losing money - at least in our universe !!
