Yes, I would love to see this dropped. But my opinion, FWIW, is that no deal will end this, it will just move the scope of the controversy. It will just add another thing to controvert about. Which I see as no benefit to anyone.

If people go back over the actual history of my posting to and about Poet over the past year, they will find it astonishingly benign. I would doubt of an objective person could point to a single post there which would reasonably cause a reasonable person distress.

Once this flurry of activity passes, I think the problem will die out of its own accord, as so many other flare-ups here on SI have done. I further think that doing anything else will simply exacerbate and prolong the issue. I could be wrong, but that's my opinion, and it's based on long experience here, not mere whim.

JLA says he wants this thing over, but he's the one primarily who's prolonging it. Look back at the past 100 or 200 posts or so, and see. If he just accepted that he isn't going to get a deal, we might have a chance for the peace he claims to want.
