I plan to move some money out of regular bonds into TIPS. Although I plan to buy the actual TIPS bonds, Vanguard has an inflation-indexed fund that some may wish to consider. I use it as a way of seeing an up-to-date TIPS chart...

The fund distributes interest and inflation-adjustments quarterly, so that explains the sawtooth pattern on the chart. On a long term basis, a rising net asset value indicates higher inflation expectations. Inflation expectations gyrated up and then down after September 11.
