Rails... a contrarian? Not a chance. I do my best at identifying trends and catching the waves with high beta stocks. Turning points, this thread is all about turning points, timing, market calls and making gobbs of money in all sectors.

As for Enron? Like I said ... awful company - wrong sector - with shitty timing that's all wrapped up inside a vicious bear market cycle - a political one at that - your odds of success are best concentrated elsewhere.

FWIW -- I'll comment - yet again, on the patch and more specifically on NG this weekend when I have more time.

Regards
Frank P.

Enron common is worthless. It will continue to be worthless because Enron's debt is so much greater than any possible valuation of their assets (what assets?). You might want to check to be sure that your uncle understands that. That said, the Enron common is currently a trading sardine in the pennies, and if your uncle has an edge trading it, have fun! /BSG

rails99,
Several business rules for me:
1 Although I am a person of faith, never do business based on religion. Those that wear it on their business sleeve, so to speak, will give you reason to doubt your faith.
2 Never do business with family and that includes stock tips. You must be able to walk away and forget about bad deals and you can't do that if your family is involved.
3 This goes along with number 2, never loan a friend money unless you want to lose both the money and the friend.

Enron is to me the deEnergizer Bunny that never stops giving negative juice:

biz.yahoo.com

After the drubbing they gave the market and the embarrassment they gave their gov't friends, there will be no forgiveness, no hope.

Best of luck,

Roebear
