never seen such expert competent extremely opposite views
forecasting is hard enough for the economy
some see moderate recovery
others see spending hit the wall by summertime
I pay attention to maybe 4-5 economists, no more
the rest are charlatans, incompetents, sheep, guessers, cheerleaders, numbnuts

the only conclusion I can confidently reach is that the rest of this year will have strong forces pulling in opposite directions, probably resulting in volatility, false starts, sudden downdrafts, but overall muddle along (as John Mauldin likes to say)

Sohn of Wells Fargo is good
he thinks consumer spending wanes by summer
just as business investment picks up after a 2-yr slumber
