These "old economy" favorites like housing and retail stocks are going to get annihilated.

Well, Doug Kass at RealMoneyPro suggested shorting housing stocks yesterday. He named three, PHM, CTX, and TOL. It seemed like a good idea to me, so I put out PHM and CTX. So far, it was great timing. This am the MBA Mortgage data fell to the lowest levels of the year: The applications index fell by 9%, the purchase index fell by 7%, and the refinancing index fell by 10%.

I am already up 1 to 1 1/2 points, but these are longer-term shorts. It's possible I didn't catch the top, however I can take some pain. Housing is going to crack, and the housing stocks look like internet stocks from two years ago.

What about non-cyclical old economy like Drugs and Food, in the event of a major drop in tech.

Did you talk about Ebay last night as it relates to options. I am thinking about shorting it or buying some puts and wanted to get your opinion. Looks like a head and shoulders pattern, but what concerns me is the options. There are a lot of in the money put holders, can't imagine that will stay that way.

Thanks for your thoughts.
