Joe, re: AMDZone OS statistics

Interesting results. No WinXP? Seems to have a much higher % of professional OS (NT and Win2K) compared to consumer OS.

Joe: Windows 3.1 895 0.01%

Wow. That's old and really, really, really poor software.

What the heck is "OSF1"?

Dear Joe:

Many Linux boxes refuse to give out information when set that way. They probably did not include a category for "Can not obtain" or "Unknown". Also all boxes with Java and Javascript turned off probably are not included either.

It's obvious that the results are skewed.

BTW, OSF1 is the UNIX on Alpha machines otherwise currently known as Tru64 UNIX. IRIX is another UNIX (SGI?).

Pete

This seems to suggest to that the geeks (a large constituency of sites such as AMD Zone), who are often the self proclaimed Linux users are probably themselves using Windows.

At work you're probably right, but I expect you knew that. I browse a lot from work, and can only do it on Windows.

Neil.
