Yeah, those hi-power car stereos are utterly annoying. It's a pointedly rude behavior ... a hoisting of the middle finger at anybody who displays the poor judgment, let alone the nerve, to encroach within 100 yards of the joiks&woise who operate those car stereos. For all their unpleasantness, I rather doubt that they are seismically significant. The freight trains that roll by here clackety-clack transmit much more sound energy into the alluvium. But they are a so much more pleasant sound. Nobody ever wrote a wistful country ballad about hip-hop blaring from the hatch of a chopped Honda.
